CHARACTER INFO

Lone Wanderer
HISTORY
(Quoted from the wiki) " The Lone Wanderer lived in Vault 101 without incident for nineteen years, but in 2277, 200 years after the Great War, James disappears without any explanation. The young Lone Wanderer, with the help of Amata Almodovar, leaves the safety of the Vault to look for James in the ruins of Washington, D.C. In order to find him, the Lone Wanderer travels across the wasteland following James's trail, searching for clues and speaking to the people he encountered to find out where he went. After finding him, Project Purity is put back on track, but the reunion is cut short when the Enclave commander, Augustus Autumn, arrives and demands ownership of the Project. James, unwilling to allow the project to fall into the hands of the Enclave, sacrifices himself by filling the control chamber of Project Purity with deadly amounts of radiation, in hopes of killing Colonel Autumn and the other soldiers. Colonel Autumn, however, survives. The Enclave take control of the project, but are unable to operate it.

After fleeing from the Jefferson Memorial building with the remainder of Project Purity staff, The Lone Wanderer takes refuge within the Citadel and enlists the help of the Brotherhood of Steel to retrieve a G.E.C.K. from Vault 87 for use in a soon-to-be-recaptured Project Purity. Because the G.E.C.K. is in a highly irradiated chamber, the Lone Wanderer must then choose whether to enlist the help of Fawkes, a friendly super mutant, or face the deadly amounts of radiation alone. Once the G.E.C.K. is retrieved, the Lone Wanderer is captured by Colonel Autumn and taken to Raven Rock. There, President Eden presents the Wanderer with a canister of modified FEV for insertion into Project Purity, which would poison any mutated creature drinking the purified water. It is unknown whether the Wanderer obeys this instruction, but it is known that Raven Rock is destroyed and Project Purity is recaptured with the aid of Liberty Prime. There, after finally stopping Colonel Autumn, the Wanderer and Sentinel Lyons are faced with the dilemma of who would enter the radiation-flooded chamber and activate the project. Once the purifier is activated the wasteland is finally given the greatest gift of all: fresh, clean drinking water."

PERSONALITY
Roy appears overly cheerful and often times has a big smile on his face. He really enjoys laughing and telling obnoxious jokes to anyone who will listen, and sometimes even to those who don’t. He is deceptively good at wearing masks. In fact, his entire cheerful exterior is a mask for the genuine unhappiness he feels constantly. He hates the condition of the world around him; the desolate wastes, the senseless slaughter of innocents, the hunting of non feral ghouls, the slavers -- it all makes him unhappy and he wants desperately to change the world. To make it better and more livable. That’s essentially what Roy dedicates his life to; helping others. And he does it all with a smile etched on to his face hoping that would make it easier.

He is a shameless flirt and considers it as practically a hobby. He'll hit on anyone, man or woman, even if he doesn't really find the person attractive. It's hard to tell whether Roy is flirting because he is genuinely attracted to the person, or if he's just doing it for fun. Either way, his flirting usually doesn't go anywhere beyond a one night stand. Given his lifestyle of traveling to many different places constantly, he doesn't get close enough to form a romantic relationship with anyone. He's actually quite terrible at relationships, or handling any situation with a person beyond getting them into bed. Sometimes his tactlessness in that field leads to misunderstandings, and no matter how charismatic Roy can be, he usually gets a slap in the face for accidentally leading someone on more often than not.

Roy loves people and doesn’t just show it with how often he’s trying to help others. He is always quick to chat with anyone within hearing range. Even with his companion, Charon, who barely speaks a word unless he has to does Roy constantly chatter at in the hopes that one day he’ll join the one sided conversation. He likes to ask questions about people and one of his favorite things to do is to get to know a person. However, he’s respectful of boundaries and will stop if the person looks too uncomfortable. That doesn’t mean he won’t prod a little. When it comes to himself though, he tends to dodge lots of questions and will often redirect them to the person asking.

He doesn’t like to talk about his life before leaving Vault 101; that had been a time where he was always angry at the fact that his father and everyone else always told him he couldn’t leave. “You’re born in the vault, you die in the vault.” But Roy wanted to see the world and desperately wished that one day he would get out. When his father escaped from the Vault and Roy had been chased out, he got his wish. And he always felt guilty that he had wished so hard for a way out. Life in the Vault was boring, but after seeing what the Wasteland had to offer he found himself missing those simpler times a lot. Those times when he still had his father, James.

During his search for his father he had learned so many things and went through lots of trials. He had started off angry and hateful -- he blamed James for everything. He constantly told himself that if he hadn’t left none of this would have happened, and that he hadn’t wanted to leave like that. He was really angry at himself though. For wanting to leave so bad, for being wrong about life outside the Vault being better, and for having to shoot his best friend’s father -- the Overseer of the Vault -- in order to get out. In fact, when he followed enough clues that led him to James he hadn’t wanted to speak to him other than to find out why he left. When James told Roy he hadn’t been born in the Vault and that he left to restart a project to bring fresh water to the Wasteland, Roy was furious. Furious that James had left after all this talk about having to stay, leaving him a note telling him not to follow as if he had a choice. For abandoning him and his life for some “greater good”. Roy became very bitter and resentful, and after James asked him to go with him to Rivet City to continue his work, Roy said he couldn’t follow him.

Years had passed before unrelated business brought him to Rivet City, where he remembered James had said he was going. A lot had changed with Roy. As he tried his best to survive out there in the world he had seen kindness in others that he hadn’t expected. He had seen innocents die by unmerciful and ruthless hands, and he had been victim to those same types of people several times. Roy’s change to who he is now had been gradual. It started with him helping one or two people along the way; from giving a fresh bottle of water to a thirsty man, to helping out a group of innocents being attacked by Raiders. Helping people, he found, made living in the Wasteland more bearable. And before he knew it, he found himself wanting to help make it a better place. He suddenly understood why his father left the Vault. Why he left everything behind. To help better the Wasteland.

Roy had then decided to help his father, and together they kick started project purity despite constant interference from the Enclave. After his father sacrificed himself for the project, Roy had realized that James had been fighting for something bigger than the both of them. Something important enough to die for. That was the moment when Roy went from merely helping people who needed it to actively going out of his way to right wrongs. He searched for groups of Raiders, Super Mutants, slavers, ect to put them down. Helping to better the world didn’t stop after restarting Project Purity.

That’s why Roy travels the Wasteland with a smile on his face. In trying to better everything around him, he bettered himself. Though sometimes he has doubts about that, but he chooses to ignore them.

ABILITIES
-Thanks to Roy's Chinese stealth assassin armor, he can go stealth with the push of a button on his suit.

-He is also a great shot with a rifle.

-Other than that his other abilities lie mostly in the medical science; given the right tools he can patch up about any wounds, and knows a lot of medical things from all the books he's read.

-He knows some things about weapons, such as maintenance and repair. General things he learned to survive. He knows mostly rifles though, as he prefers not to get up close in a fight. Should the need arise though, he knows how to defend himself close quarters.
